How much do you think the new post office system will affect you as an eBayer?

This may seem to be the wrong forum to have this thread, but I posted it here because many eBay users will be affected by the new system, how will it affect you?
The new system means that after August 21, parcels and packets will be charged due to weight AND size, thus more charge.
It will affect me badly because if I want to post on Swapitshop or eBay I will need to pay more because of the packaging, and if I post multiple items to swap it shop, it will result in more being cost!

Havn't fully reworked all my postage costs out yet but it will affect me a lot.
I mainly post digital memory cards. They are very light and easily come within the first class 32p weight. Looking at the new system they wont fit into the letter classification and will be in the next step up (because they are slightly over 5mm thick) even though they are about the size of 4 postage stamps laid out in a square. Instead of costing me 32p they will cost me 44p, a 37% increase. Whilst this is pennies, combined with the announced eBay shop fee increases it all adds up.
My local post offices are dreading it. They have lots of eBay sellers using them and reckon it will take double the amount of time to process each customer under the new system! Just what we need....longer post office queues!0 -
it will affect me alot as items i sell on ebay normally cost 32p + 68p recorded and i only charge for the posting cost as i get free packing materials but these items wont go in the letter due to being slightly thicker and some have to be sent in a larger envalope havent worked out the costs yet but will impact sales im sure as that is the only way currently i can undercut my competitors
bet my PO will dread me coming in now if its gonna take them longer i nearly always have at least half a dozen packages lol:rolleyes: Democracy is a process by which the people are free to choose the man who will get the blame.:j0 -
I think ultimately the post office will have cut off its nose to spite its face. Postage charges will go up on Ebay for purchasers - because of this people will be less likely to buy the items. As a massive proportion of the PO business is generated via Ebay they could lose out big time. I also agree about the post office queues....urgghh!I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes

Could be worse, our company produce a free A4 bulletin monthly, posted out to a few thousand people. We're going to have to rethink our entire publication systems as it will cost us a couple of thousand pounds extra per year.
Which is a LOT for a company that employs 14 people.DONE: Great North Run 09! Raised £452 for the National Autistic Society

I mostly sell CDs on eBay, and am wondering if they'll fit through the 5mm slot if I remove the jewel case and slip them in a stiff card envelope, not a jiffy bag. Has anyone tested this out? It might be a nice way to undercut other CD sellers if it works.0
