Holiday in Somerset Attrations?
Options
Hi, we're off to Somerset, my kids are 11, 5 & 6. I am printing out 2 for 1 vouchers for attractions before we go. I currently have Wookey Hole & Animal Farm. (vouchers obtained from 'www.gosummer.com' ITH )
Is there anywhere else we should visit, I think Dorset is pretty close too. (I never did well in Geog')
Zoo's, water parks, Theme parks. Any suggestions appreciated.
Holidays cost a fortune and that's before you get there.
With Thanks.

Whereabouts in Somerset? And how long do you want to spend travelling to places?
Because there's LOTS to do in Bristol, but we're at the top end of Somerset. So you wouldn't necessarily want to do it if you're down at the bottom end, IYSWIM.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Savvy-Sue, thanks for replying, we're going to Watchet which I think is close to Minehead. We usually do alternate days one cheap at the beach, relaxing and then an expensive day. So I only have 2 days out at the moment. I'm sure they will do boat trips aswell which the kids enjoyed in Devon.
Going Saturday so I haven't long to print more discount vouchers.
1 hours travelling to attractions would be max with 3 kids moaning in the car in this heat.
Any must go places?

You could try the West Somerset Steam Railway - runs from Minehead to near Taunton - stopping at Watchet I believe. You might find this a convenient/novel way to get into Minehead rather than driving, or it might be a good wet weather day to keep in reserve.Website link - they do a family ticket but probably not discounts
Watermouth Castle (Ilfracombe direction) was good when I went but that was many many years ago - sort of cross between museum and theme park - I recall they had loads of old style amusement machines - again worth considering for a wet day although there's also plenty of outdoor bits but may be a bit further afield than you want to go. Website link
Less kid oriented - try Lynton and Lynmouth - interesting history, water operated cliff railwayAdventure before Dementia!0 -
The Fleet Air Arm Museum and Haynes Motor Museum are good, especially if the weather is less favourable.
It wouldn't be far to Longleat.

How about a day pass into Butlins at Minehead?
Or Dunster Castle, or there is a Tropiquaria at Watchet.
Dorset is a fair way from Watchet I think.

well the nearest water park / swimming pool will definitely be Butlins in Minehead.
Nearest zoo is Cricket St Thomas.
You could go up on the Exmoor hills or quantock hills (Ramscombe) for a barbeque or whatever. Kilve beach is ok for fossils. Um Dunster is nice. Lynmouth is ok.0 -

We're off as will, near Minehead
Do yo have an MSE sticker in the car? Wifes car, so we wont
Hi, no we haven't a sticker I didn't know they were avalable. Have a great time. Minehead Tesco's is 9.8miles from where we are staying, I was going to do some R&Ring whilst away but I should think everyone off here will be there.
Hope my first post has helped with discount vouchers, I am at a dead end for anymore.
Sites where we have stopped before have given discount vouchers for attractions but will take my 2 and compare the savings.
I have been looking at eating out vouchers as well to save money that way.
I'd love to go to a TGI Friday as not one here in Peterborough but can't find one near Watchet, 241 voucher on discount board.
If you do meet a woman that talks a lot then you've found me. Sorry for the essay, I'm so excited.0 -
WestonDave, my little boy loves trains, that will be a must so Thanks for your time in posting.0
