How long would it be reasonable to expect plastic guttering to last before it needs replacing (not just patching up)?
Thanks

As long as it is undisturbed ( Putting ladders against it etc) thirty years at least.
Daylight, especially strong sunlight will make it brittle. But if it is left alone it should be OK.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -
I believe some plastic is better than others, you get some that loose colour quickly and then go brittle while better quality may last longer
I think at least 20+ years maybe more0 -
Mine has been up for 33 years. had to replace two downpipe clips that broken when a heavy Wisteria brought the downpipe off the wall. Apart from that, no problems. You have to be aware that damage might occur when a ladder is place against the gutter. Especially when it is cold and therefore a bit more brittle. mine is a Key Terrain productI can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
It's a bit vague a question as the gutter wont actually start to fall to pieces, but you could expect it to be noticably faded after 10-15 years and the joint rubbers to need replacing at this time too.
Clips may lose their flexibility and be more prone to sanpping at about 25 years but, you may be looking at 50 years plus for its actual life
You tend to see the brown type fade quicker than other colours0
