i think the evidence showed differently. we had some great events with ken. there always seemed to be something buzzy going on down along the southbank of trafalgar square. boris came along and took away all the funding for that. wanted us to get back to proper 'english' events like morris dancing and classical music. personally i think if london was just full of english culture it would be quite a dull place.

what makes a real londoner btw?

um, budgets could be involved somewhere? Fireworks are great but not at the cost of funding the workings of the city.

Ken invested in spittal fields while I was in London. The faceless chains of corporation owned cafe culture looked like they were going to do well out of that. whatever happened about the disney esque sounding new china twn in the east end, is that going a head? I have asked before and can't remember the answer:o:o

edit: are you sure Boris was so ''english''? He seems quite respectful of his own cultural heritage and to my knowledge he is far from xenophobic.

what annoys me is that if you pay for a monthly or weekly travelcard it costs the same whether it is full service or half the lines are suspended. i think there is probably some way of claiming back fares if you wait more than a certain amount of time but does anyone actually know how that works in practice?

and i never trust the oyster system to take the correct amount from payg, it's far too easy for it not to register your touch out and then overcharge you.

    oh dear....am i becoming a middle englander?

never - but i tend to keep them part.

the same would happen to credit cards that use magnetic stripes across them.
the oyster card thinks it's a ticket machine so it gets all confused and ends up damaging itself.

i was reading that there are new versions of oyster cards being issued with newer technology where the oyster cards won't have the problem. it will only be active if it's near a receiver (ticket machine). issue here is that you could build a receiver (if you were that geeky enough) and steal personal data.

I never had a problem with the oyster card and credit card and always keep them together actually this is the first time I've even heard of it.
I wonder how long it will be before someone and builds the receiver (not long would be my guess)

it's worse if it came in contact with the phone battery.

i've just read up on it and a firm is building some sort of aluminium casing that encrypts the cards so they will only release information to the right machines.

do you think they count the time when you can't actually get into the station or onto the platform because they've closed it for overcrowding? this has happened to me increasingly recently.

i don't think they even check - but you should put it down as your waiting time.

if they had to check each and every refund application it would be more expensive than paying each one that they actually received.
