Hi,
Can anyone help me with the situation I’m in?
I have been told that the logistics team that I work with will be made redundant on the 31st October 2010 due to some work being transferred to the parent company in France. The company has given me details of the redundancy package and followed procedure correctly. My problem is that I have found out only a small part of my job will be moved to France. The majority of my role which is booking stock in and controlling transport into the warehouse will still be active but moved from the logistics department to the warehouse (I am working in the warehouse in this role but being treated as a logistics team member), which is resulting in my redundancy due to the change of department. I want to question if what the company is doing is legal.
I have also asked if I can have in writing that the company is transferring my role from one department to another but at the moment this had not been accepted.
I’m worried that because I started out in the company as a warehouse operator that they will consider a move to the warehouse as being a suitable position. I also fear that if I accept a move to the warehouse I will end up doing the same role I am currently doing now but for a lower wage.
