    hi

i am in the trade and to be honest with you it's very quite time to sell a car at that sort of money, as most people (with money) are going away.

    Goodluck

it's a car loan so I guess it's more HP than personal loan.

The loan is finally worth less than the car (well, the redemption figure is!!) so I can now sell it.

Looking on autotrader, the most expensive car in my area with same specs is 11.5K whereas I'm thinking of advertising at 10,995 then taking 10K min.

    (btw. It's a Seat Ibiza Cupra 1.9TDI 04 model)

    opinions are graciously welcome!

If its a personal loan or a loan from someone like Alliance and Leicester to buy a car, then the loan is against you and not the car, thus you don't have to complicate a potential sale by getting the seller to clear the loan agreement, you can do that yourself later. i *think* the only legal way to sell a car with HP on it is as you are proposing, ie the purchaser clears the HP.

If you register with autotrader online, you can upload you own pics, put in quite extensive wording for the online advert, and ensure the wording for the mag is correct - all without hanging around for some bloke from autotrader to come out to take a pic. personally i'd stick it in for a fortnight and see what happens - as someone else has said its quite a quiet time though.

Having worked at Autotrader I can suggest you do try their website - its 15.99 (I think) for 2 weeks worth on the web. They also have a guide on what to list. Research showed that most people had 2-3 enquiries. I would try this first.

Most cars on ebay seem to be under 1k which is probably due to high cost that ebay charge once the vehicle has been sold. Also a dealer was heard to say that they put all their rubbish on ebay and the best vehicles on autotrader
  • if you do sell on ebay make sure you stipulate cash or bankers draft as payment method, you dont want to pay huge amounts out in paypal fees

And you should never accept paypal on a pick-up item anyway.
