My Mum asked me to have a look at hers, ok I know computers and AV pretty well but a hoover is for sucking up screws I can be bothered to pick up and stuff.
Any way hers stops working afer maybe 4-5 minutes of use it isnt blowing the fuse if she comes back to it later it works againf for a bit. now this would make a computer mind think it was a heat problem. I dont have a clue where to look does anyone have any ideas wht could be the problem?
the filters are clean there are no blockages in the bits I can remove any sugestions?

Had the same problem with ours
Call Dyson - they'll go through a check list of things to try to remedy the problem. If all else fails they may send an engineer to repair free of charge - they did for me!
Turned out to be a dodgy motor that had to be replaced0 -
loose wire for a guesss? in socket or inside dyson. my hubby took ours aprt and it was loose wire, all ok now. worth a nose yourself to be honest before forking outYou're not drunk if you can lie on the floor without holding on0

Yes, we had this with both our DC01 and DC07 models - pulled through 6" of cable and rewired. Does sound more likely to be the motor though 'cos our would stop intermittently with cable fault!I'm mad!!!! :rotfl::jand celebrating everyday every year!!!0 -
You do need to call Dyson on this. They will come out and replace the motor, thermal switch and should supply a redesigned cyclone unit. There is a known design fault with these that leads to overheating which produces the symptoms that you have0

My advise is bin the Dyson, I had the same problem with mine last year went back to repair shop 3 or 4 times, had Dyson out as well. They would sort the problem out then a few weeks later it would break again.
In the end I bought a Sebo X4 extra, the best £199 I have ever spent.0
