Problem with Selfridges & item

Hi all,
I bought a laptop from Selfridges 18 months ago, and after 14 months the lap top developed a fault, they were told about it and given the receipt.
They claim that the receipt is not the correct one for the item.\
As i bought it from a dept in Selfridges the receipt only says 'micro Anvika' with the vlaue of £798.00. They say that the receipt doesn’t match the item.
Any item bought from a dept not directly Selfridges only has the dept name and not the actual item where as if you buy a D&G jeans then the reeipt says D&G Jeans.
My contract is with Selfridges and not micro Anvika, which also does not trade in selfridges anymore. i have spoken to Micro Anvika and they say which is right that my contract is with Selfridges and not them.
Because of the flaw and the inaccuracy of their receipts i am not left to suffer. i have contacted their legal dept and they say i dont have a claim as its nota correct receipt or proof of purchase. i initially asked for a repair and they did agree to this upon production of the receipt, this they now have and now refuse to do anything. I also suspect the reason is that as Micro Anvika has been paid by Selfridges for this item via their accounting system that the loss of this if/when refunded would have to be absorbed by Selfidges and thus are trying to 'get out of it'
I would warn anyone against buying anything from them
i am now demanding a refund as the item is not fit for purpose and i have lots of reviews to say that this laptop has lots of problems and the same ones that have been reported are the ones i am having.
i just need some legal advice on this one and i hope someone can assist?
Thanks in advance

If it was a concession store within Selfridges, the rules might be different - I know that if eg I was to have bought a game from a Game concession in Borders that I could have taken it back to any Game store, but not any Borders store. I suspect Micro Anvika might be fobbing you off. Hopefully someone will know what the exact situation is...0

Yes but when you buy something from selfridges you are given a selfridges recipt and the money goes into selfridges bank, hence why you get a till receipt from selfridges.
Game for example can give 2 receipts, the game one and the selfridges one. others are different.
the concession then requests all payments made to thier dept number are paid to them minus any fees/commsions/cuts that are in agreement between selfridges and that concession.0 -
I would agree that, in the absence of anything on the receipt to the contrary, your contract is with Selfridges.
Have you spoken to their head office? I once had a problem with a (very expensive!) bra and the store were unwilling to help. I contacted head office and they issued a refund plus a £25 gift voucher as an apology.
If they are still insistent that the receipt is not for the laptop, ask them what it is for - call their bluff!
I would agree that a s. 75 is also an option. Out of interest, which retailer did your CC statement state?Gone ... or have I?0 -

Hi they have had both the till reciept which has Selfridges on it and the store card statement which says Microanvika @ selfridges.
i have past speaking to their head office i am now speaking to some jumped up rude 'legal advisor' at oxford st who is saying i don't have any claim what so ever!
i have also written to the card issuer claiming back under section 750
