So Annoying

Had my valuation done around three weeks ago - gave money to solicitor to start initial search (dont know which search it was). Then all was quiet for around three weeks. Was getting annoyed with the solicitor as its taking ages so i call them to find out my building society hasnt even sent them the mortgage offer yet!!!

Does it always take this long - Valuation was three weeks ago now and came back saying the house was values enough for the mortgage.

I think there is a weekly chart of which lender is the slowest at any one time. "A new entry at....!!!" You can just imagine it. All the brokers listening to Gary Davis on a Tuesday Lunchtime to see which lender will be the quickest and at number one! :rotfl: Ah! I am showing my age.
I think it is true though that they go through phases. I suppose it depends on what fab products they are offering and the old market.
Tis the fun of housebuying! There is always someone bing slow.
    Hang in there,

Were FTB's & the house has no chain, we instructed solicitors on 23rd June, got the mortgage offer about 10 days after that & all went quite smoothly until solicitor got awkward but fine now.

Most solicitors want to exchange and complete at the end of the month so that the buyer does not have to pay two mortgages, if remortgaging that is. That way one mortgage ends and the other begins neatly without any overlaps.

Its also because most lenders like to take the money between the 1st and the 3rd of the month.

If you buy a flat or a leasehold searches take longer than if it were a freehold.

And for those of you going for the FREE legal deals from the lenders, be under no false belief, the solicitor is working for the lender and will make sure everything about the property is in order and you can call them 10 times a day to hurry them on, they will just grind away until they are done.

Don't forget that you're only buying one house, but the mortgage people/solicitors etc are dealing with lots, so it's not like they're working 9-5 on yours getting nothing done.

Hard to remember sometimes when things seem to be going slowly!
