Vertbaudet - Unfair charges

Afternoon all,

Not sure if this is the correct place to put this post, so feel free to move it.

Anyways, my partner ordered some christening shoes for our sons christening a while back and they cost £11.99. They said on the phone she could pay then or when they arrive so she said she would pay on arival. A couple of weeks later an account statement came with the bill, so my partner phoned up to pay but the phone service wasnt working, so she thought she would pay another day. However with everything going on she forgot, then we got a new statement with a new balance of £22.10!! 50p interest and £12.00 admin charge for late payment.

Now this has made me mad as the charges are greater then the value of the goods, also we did not sign up for any account or sign to agree to their terms and conditions, so can they do this.

Any help is appreciated.

I think this is similar to the unfair bank charges, they are not legally allowed to do it. Just phone up and only pay for the shoes.

I would phone up, only pay for the shoes and complain - they may waive the charges - if they dont just tell them you arent paying them!
