Faulty printer, can i take it back?

Options
Hi guys.

I have a fairly expensive printer, £200,i bought in the later half of last year. The last month i have spent £100 o ink because it runs out as soon as you use it once or twice. Anyway the guy at Epson said to take it to a repair centre and buy new ink. I'm not sure if i want a refurbished printer when this one isnt even six months old. Does anyone know if i can take it back to the shop for replacement? My contract is with the shop isnt it? x

Are you using 'official' ink from the manufacturer? Was the product supplied with any specification that states the typical ink consumption? Are you using it in line with the specifications?

I was using official ink, but when it started going wrong i couldnt afford £55 three times in a row. I dont know about ink consumption, but £55 for one or two sheets of a4 isnt an option. It used to do much much more. Yes i use it to spec x
  • I used to be a printer engineer .......... alot of people think their printer is faulty especially inkjet's when in reality its not, its simply not suitable for their needs added to the fact that own brand inks are expensive and dont last long especially Epsons making people think their is a mechanical fault.

What exactly makes you think its faulty, its not very clear from the post??? If you have changed the inks because the printer was suggesting they were empty and it has then prompted for them to be changed again either the inks are not the correct ones i.e. not own brand (epsons are hot on this) or the replacement process was not carried out correctly thus the printer doesn't realise they were changed.

I have an epson printer and invested in a Continous Ink system for it and it is the best investement, epson inks are expensive and like you, continouly buying ink after printing not very much. Lexmark were the worst

fergies_army, it was working perfectly well, until recently when i installed some new, epson ink, it then kept complaining of needing the head cleaning and therefore the ink ran out faster, since then i have installed new ink and it ran out after one a4 print. So i bought some more and it did the same thing, its almost like it is leaking out.

anmarj, what is a continuous ink system? x

Yes, take it back to the shop to see if they'll repair or replace it. That doesn't sound like it's behaving very well!
