hi there,
i have an account with abbey which i never use and had a basic cash card with it. yesterday i got a letter from santander saying due to the rebranding i now have a new card. it still says cash card on it, but has a chip and pin, and says Cirrus on the back.
Anyone know what this is?
why am i getting a chip and pin card when i thought it was just a basic cash account and can i use that in shops?

ATMs also have a chip and PIN device built into them - when you insert the card, the chip is also being read. This is for increased security. The card won't work in shops.0

i got my replacement card a couple of weeks ago and couldnt help thinking 'what a waste of money' they could have just waited til the card was expired to change the name on it instead of re-printing thousands of cards - no doubt at great expense.
who cares if your card says "abbey" or "santander" as long as it works
grrrrrr
sorry but it really annoyed me!! lol0 -
Haha... I was half hoping that I would just get a rebranded Visa Debit card that i asked for like 2 years ago...0
