Hi all, recently found out by default that I have been given a CCJ due to a mistake by the DVLA. They sent stuff to an old address even though vehicle details were moved to new address. Obviously I didn't repond so unbeknownst to me I was taken to court and CCJ'd.With time being of the essence I really need to pull my finger out and transfer my 2 Egg balances of total £8,000 and a Royal Bank of Scotland balance of £1,800. I've got the paperwork to appeal my CCJ but the court staff say that it'll be a few months before I get Court time. My monthly salary is now running out mid month, third month in a row and I am trying to give myself an almighty kick up the youknowwhat to actually start tackling my debts.Any ideas re credit cards or is it a simple 'no' until the CCJ is cleared and will it still stay on my credit score as I'll need to look at getting a mortgage at some point.Thanks.

If you can prove that the DVLA were updated and it was their mistake that the court papers were served to the wrong address then I would strongly suggest that you make an application to have the order set aside on the ground of non service (in simple terms the order will be deleted)

In terms of a new card, then the only card you will get with a CCJ will be High APR, and low credit limits bards, so propbaly not a lot of use to you.

Cheers for that File_wizzard, I'm actually in the very process of getting my evidence together to try and get this judgement set aside. Unfortunately it's not looking too hopeful re the balance transfers. I may just ring the credit card companies and ask them to lower the interest rate. Worth a go I suppose.

have you tried for a card with your own bank, in many cases these are not externally scored and are issued upon a behavioural profile of your current account.

Obviously more credit is not a long term solution and should be managed exceptionally carefully, however this may be one solution.

Hi there, tried the bank application, was told my application was already pre approved blah blah, then came back that they couldn't give me it and this is when this whole mess re the CCJ came to light.Had to laugh about the pre approved bit.
