Official MoneySavingExpert.com insert:

The deal below sadly ends on Tues 16 Mar, but we've spoken to the Co-op and a new half price offer starts on Wednesday for legs of lamb.
  • £6/kg leg of lamb - starts Wed 17 March in all Co-op stores UK-wide on New Zealand lamb
Back to the original post... thanks nevsy!

At Co-Op and Somerfield until next Tuesday.
Elmwood fresh medium chickens half price,Baileys 70cl original, mint coffee £9, and 9 rolls of Co-operative loo roll £2.09 instead of over 4 quid.

Gonna bag one of each up for mothers day for Grandma Nevs pressie and see what she makes of that-she loves her bargains and hates a bunch of flowers-she says it can become so repeptitive each year.:money:

Who is this who thinks £6/kg lamb is a good deal - someone from the Co-op ?
Anybody can get sub-£5 lamb in Tesco and Lidl for sure most days of the week...
Why is MSE carrying this advert any longer ? Who put it up ?

What wrong with British lamb and supporting British farmers. I for one won't be buying it even if it is half price

Laal - you must do as your conscience dictates. However, many people on here have to balance the pennies and if they can feed their families better with lamb from elsewhere, then its hardly appropriate to criticise them for taking advantage of a bargain. In an ideal world it would be different - but life at the moment is far from ideal for many people.

I hope we are not going to have lamb police ganging up with chicken police.

I'd never purchase lamb from New Zealand. What really is the point? The meat has to stay ice packed on a ship for god-knows how long. Pay more and get fresh British lamb which is amazing.

I totally agree with Mikeee and laaljocky. I simply wont buy NZ lamb, okay so it means I have lamb maybe twice a year because British is so much more expensive but I think the quality and taste is FAR superior.

While I agree that British lamb is best - as with most food it is all to do with seasons.

British lambs are 'spring' lambs - this means that they are being born as we speak - not being slaughted to go on our plates. Give it a month and british lambs will be on special offer.
