Are debt collectors allowed to keep your debt card/credit information on file to take monthly payments, as i got told there not allowed.

Yes they can keep your details, but they can only take a monthly payment if you set up a DD or recurring payment by giving them the 16 digit card number rather than the account number.0

Technically, a direct debit cannot be setup on a debit or credit card. Direct Debits can only be setup on certain bank accounts. Consequently the Direct Debit Guarantee does not apply to recurring payments set up on debit or credit cards.0
