Lone Parent grant question

I'm filling my forms in just now so this might be the first of many questions.
I have two kids who I have for two days a week under current access arrangements. I don't receive tax credits or any other "benefit" as a lone parent (Am I even considered as such? I don't know) and I don't really want to claim for anything that would cause my ex any financial grief as it ultimately affects the kids.
So my question is two part.
1) Am I entitled to any part of the Lone Parents grant
2) If yes to part one, what kind of letter or otherwise would/could I provide
Thanks,
mark

I don't think you are sorry. I may be wrong but as they are with your ex the majority of the time she gets all the grant.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

You are deemed a lone parent for benefit / grant purposes if the children are mainly resident with you. The usual measure of this is who gets the child benefit. My guess is you could not be deemd a lone parent. You may be apble to apply to get the benefit and tax credits split between you, but as you said, this would mean less income for your ex.0

I wouldn't even have minded if I could have applied for the grant and she got the money. She receives CTC at the moment. Thought it might be a way of giving them a wee bit extra.
Oh well
Thanks anyway.0
