Go get some pallets from your local builders, they are usually more than willing to let them go for free, they take up alot of skip space, and will probably last as long as your decking planks.
All you do is pull them apart with the hammer, then put them back together with the hammer, and some nails if you want them to stay together....

Free gratis, any idiot could do it. Even this idiot......

What a great idea. You've done really well with those. I did discuss this with my DH but he wasn't too chuffed with having to ask for pallets, and thought that the wood may break easily as it is thin.

    I still think it's worth a go.

    have you tried this recently ? ? ? ?

No good for me as I dont have the land, and pallets I have used in the past as I used them for log burner are quite flimsy when broken up and they need something done to prevent rot.

The raised bed kits are pressure treated so should last years and also one I been looking at is much deeper than shown above

I realise it may be okay for your needs but not mine

Its been so long since we had any sunshine up here that id forgotten we dont get any:eek:--well not much anyway, out front is fine,(6hrs or more in summer, well on the rare occassion that we have a summer up here.)but back garden spends most of the day in the shade, maybe around 2hrs sunshine in the morning, then the house and trees from the park next door overshadow everything by midday.will it be worth my while even making up this raised bed,or would i be better off trading it in for some decent decorative pots that wouldnt look bad with veggies growing in out front?
OH and teenagers have begged me not to place my 1m x 1m on front lawn with caulies,n cabbages,n lettuce in:rotfl:

I would love to be able too, but i have issues with severe rheumatoid arthritis at the grand old age of 34, i usually need help carrying a full watering as my grip is so poor - if anyone placed me in charge of a hammer i can see me in casualty pretty quickly!
