If you are using Thunderbird, this is an e-mail client that runs on your PC i.e. it sends and receives your mail and stores it on your PC. Your old e-mails and contacts will still be there but you will have to add your new e-mail POP3 & SMTP details so that Thunderbird can talk to your account.

This is as long as your currently accessing your email through a POP3 mail server.
If it is HTTP and you change your account you will no longer see them. HTTP is common for providers such as Hotmail.. ISP's generally use POP3 so you should be ok

Old emails should still be there. It's just a matter of changing your existing account settings (Tools - Account Settings) to your new ISP (username, POP3 and SMTP servers).0
