If the item is as described thats very Harsh has the point of DSRs passed you over?
I dont think its harsh at all. However long it takes to be delivered, I would expect if I buy something, the seller goes out and posts it for me at least within 48 hours (not classing sat\sun) unless they e-mail me about any delay.

2 days is ample time to nip to a post office, I have no problem posting items off within 2 days of selling them. 4 days is just about acceptable (but only for a neutral feedback) anything more than 5 days is just taking the mick.

Unless specifically stated as (posted within X days of purchase) 5 days plus gets a nice negative plug, from 10 days I am e-mailing them to ask where it is, giving them an extra 2 days to reply and 4 days for it to turn up, as 14 days or over I am looking for a refund.

  • I always make sure I post the next day as I know how annoying it is waiting for things I buy off ebay.
I treat buyers the way I would expect to be treated myself. I am a private seller and have a full time job but still make the effort.
I also buy a lot of items and find some people take along time to post things and don't even email me to let me know the delay, grrrr!

Hve you seen the dispatch DSR? If the item is ok and arrives wirhin a reasonable time and as described thats what the dispatch star is for. Not sure you actually understand ebay

I would imagine if it takes 14 days just to merely go out and POST an item I would be looking at around 3 weeks for its arrival, there is simply no excuse for taking over a week just to nip to a post office. Of course as I have already said, this is dependent on the seller specifically stating an item will take a minimum time scale of upto 3 weeks.

Short of that, its a negative, there is simply no excuse for taking that long just to post an item, I imagine they don't take half as long to take the payment.

I have never once sold an item, and lazily decided to wait a week or more before I attempt to post it. Unless specifically specified, I will happily give a negative to any seller who decides to take that long to get off their rear ends and post the item. As I do not class 2-3 weeks as a reasonable amount of time to get an item,

I sincerely hope you don't take upto two weeks just to dispatch an item. If that is the case, at some point expect a nice juicy Negative one day, and a well deserved one at that, regardless of the DSR.there is just no excuse for unreasonable delays in posting something off.

Not sure you know what's reasonable and acceptable to a buyer.

Blimey, that's one of the most unreasonable things I've ever read on here. I'm fortunate that I can usually get to a PO within a day or two of my auctions ending but not everyone can be that flexible and to be treated to a neutral for posting any later than two days, well... the mind boggles.

If they cant be flexible with the posting of an item, it might be a good idea to mention it in the bid, as I have already said, if someone specifically says "posted with in X days of payment", then that is fair enough, if they don't state it, I think 2 days is ample time to go to a post office.

Whenever I sell items, I always post it the next available day I receive payment for the item. If for any reason its going to take me longer than that, I will always include this in the bid. If for example I have sold an item, and an unexpected reason will delay the postal, I will always e-mail the buyer to inform them of it.

I wont just assume I can post it when I feel I can be bothered, I think that unfair to the buyer, whom I assume is just as anxious to get the item, as I was to get paid for selling it.

That guarantee's me (assuming the product is satisfactory) a happy customer, and potentially a positive feedback.

I have only ever had to give one Neutral and one negative feedback in my 5 year history of Ebay, a neutral because one seller decided to post the item on a Wed - when the item was sold on the Friday previous (as I allow for weekends),

And a negative for a seller who after I waited two weeks, said it was sent the previous week, and 3 days after that, on asking for the tracking number, was sent the wrong tracking number, no reply on querying it I put a block on payment, for them to then e-mail a confession they had not actually sent it.

Meaning they had lied to me AND sent me a false tracking number, they promised to send it the next day, but by then I decided it was too late and negative feedback was deservedly sent.

The other 90% of sellers, either posted their items within 2-3 days of the bid, or informed me of any delays well in advance, ensuring a positive feedback would follow as soon as the item was received. So there really is no excuse for such a delay, with no reason for it, nor any warning of it.

Its one of the main reasons that in everything I have ever sold, I still have a nice healthy 100% feedback on my account.

All sellers now have to set a dispatch time in their auctions, 2 days is the default. If they can't be bothered to change that when they can't abide to it then buyers will use stars and sometimes feedback to express their views.

I spoke to someone by PM about this as they could only ship once a week but wanted to set to a 3 day dispatch as if they put 5 working days for dispatch they didn't get any bids. You can't have it all ways.

  • Mine is set to 5 day dispatch, just in case I can't get to a PO, normally I still send out within a couple of days, just depends when someones going to be near a town.
Do you think I should change my dispatch time? :-S

The person I spoke to said there was a measurable difference in their end prices and number of bidders when they changed form a 5 working day dispatch to a 2 working day dispatch. Unfortunately though as they mostly took 5 working days to dispatch their stars were hammered and nearly put them close to suspension.

    Yes.
I wouldn't place a bid if it was five days.
If you're selling the odd item out of your cupboard fair enough, if you're a business there's enough competion to lose out to.
Last item I bought was decided by the fact the seller offered same day dispatch, and there were dozens of sellers all around the same price, all good feedback, but no one else promised as fast delivery. (and it arrived on time, and good, and by normal first class)
