Changing hinges on UPVC windows

I have ten upvc windows with the side openers, there are metal scissor type hinges top and bottom, the same as these. I have noticed over the last year or so, the windows don't close as tight as they used too and leave a small gap around the edges.

Clearly the hinges need changing, has anyone experience of changing hinges? is it pretty easy, or are there problems with different types of fittings and screw holes etc

Thanks HC

Quite easy to change, as long as you have the correct drill to drill out the pop rivits holding the hinges in, and have pop rivets and a pop rivet gun to secure new ones to frame,
  • Check out ebay - plenty for sale, cheap, easy to fit, come with instructions. Done several in my home.

    Thanks all for the replies.

I was going to buy the hinges, once I measured the correct length and size, just wanted to know any pitfalls, such as trying to drill new screw holes, hanging upside down under the window, or whether they are pretty much a set of screws out, put the new hinge over the existing screw holes and refit?

    Thanks HC
