Online gas and electricity tariff

We are looking to switch to an on-line tariff to save money.

Ideally we would like to pay by variable direct debit based upon meter readings that we do ourselves.

Alternatively we could do monthly direct debit based upon our supplied meter reading.

We don't want to get into a flat monthly amount that is 'adjusted' depending upon being in credit or debit.

Does such a tariff exist?

BG's Online saver with energysmart tariff is just what you are looking for, although its not the cheapest tariff on the market, it gives you the chance to put meter readings in monthly and get charged for exactly what you have used.

You also get a free energy monitor and £20 per fuel cashback at the end of the year.

But as I said, its not the very cheapest tariff on the market.

I use this and it works great - you get an E-Mail to remind you to put a meter reading in with a weeks notice, you get an E-Mail with the bill, the amount owing is taken from the bank 2 weeks later and you get the same direct debit discount as when you pay on a fixed amount direct debit. Perfect for me. If you're already with BG give it a go as there's no exit penalty if you go on it and come off it.
