Dealer Stickers

When you buy a used car, or even a new one, do you leave the dealer rear window sticker in the car and/or the dealer branded tax disc holder if they have used one? :D

I bought my current used car last December and I have left the dealer window sticker and tax disc holder in up to now. :p

Depends where they put the sticker, but as a rule, I'd say no.

In fact I think they're taking a darned liberty when they think they can use my car as free ad space for them. Last car I bought, the worker at the dealer who prepared the car forgot to stick the sticker to the window and left it on the parcel shelf still attached to its backing paper. When the salesman gave me the keys and showed me to the car, he found it and said, "You can attach that to your windscreen if you like". I won't repeat what I told him back :p
  • I changed the car only a few weeks ago. There was a dealer sticker on the rear window blocking visibility so I had them remove it as I wasn't going to be held responsible for damaging the demister element by doing it myself.

It depends on who the dealer is. Nice beemer with all the kit and matching dealer parts = good. Oversized sticker from "Drivescrap" = bad.

No problem with the dealers name on the plates - its pretty small, and I have to have a tax disc holder anyway, but I asked for the dealer not to put their sticker in the back window - saved me having to pull it off

    +1

    :(

I've had dealer plates made up for my cars before, so that they're showing the manufacturer logo and main dealer name

No and I have been known to ask the saleman to ensure there is no dealer advertising on the car when I pick it up... :)

There is a garage in Musselburgh (near Edinburgh) that sells 2nd hand cars, the fit rear mudflaps with a big yellow logo on the bottom lol, I see loads of cars with them, people must be mad, free advertising and they are SO UGLY!

One of my cars had the dealer "sticker" as a chromed badge stuck onto the boot. I never bothered to remove it as I might have knackered the paintwork.

When customers moan/ask about the rear window stickers I tell them it invalidates the warranty if they remove it :p

ive always removed any sign of where the car came from, except on my capri, i bought it when it was 16 years old and still had the original supplying dealers sticker in good condition in the rear window, it looked good so i left it there.
