PCN from UKPC Ltd

Hey Guys,

I've been given a PCN from a certain "UK Parking Control Ltd", for parking in a McDonalds for 2 hours when the max is 75 minutes. (If i'm honest, I didn't even go into the McDonalds... ). I'm a long time lurker on here, but never needed to post before. I was just wondering on what I should do, as the UKPC letters you have on the main thread are different to the one i recieved. I have uploaded here (Sorry, can't post links because of no posts!):

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Alan :)

  • Ignore everything they send you. Don't contact them in any way. They might send some more threatening letters saying they will have debt collectors come around, but keep ignoring and they will go away :)

    They probably tweak the letters to test the effectiveness, ignore.

    You have however ripped off McDonalds parking though, to make restitution you must purchase a Big Mac and fries next time you are passing.

    Heh, I shall do that :)

    I wouldn't be too annoyed but now had 2 in 2 days, both invalid! Once i wasn't parked in an illegal spot, yet they gave me a ticket (council ticket).. I was in a LONG white box, which had so signs stating that i have to pay/have a permit.. *sigh*

    Unlucky buddy... It's a bit annoying how everyone just tries to get money out of everyone these days :( Especially for petty things :(

    Hm, In my PCN in my OP, it states PCN rather than PPC, does this matter?

    PCN= penalty charge notice.
    PPC= private parking company.

    No matter what they call it its still best to ignore them.

    Now this is the one you should be concentrating on. If you want help there is a chance the Council has made a lulu with the signs, lines or paperwork.

    Yep, I'm arguing against it with the council!

    Oh my dear, they have claimed that the registered keeper is bound by the signs.

    Much else besides, many flaws and statutory failures.

    I would have no hesitation in ignoring this while keeping it safe in the event that this company issued a Small Claims claim - which would be most enoyable indeed.

    You may well need help and advice with that one (the Council one), don't go it alone with your appeal. Councils normally reject informal appeals to PCNs.

    If they reject it then in time they'll send you a Notice to Owner, which gives you the chance to formally appeal if you want to do so. On the face of it, if there were no signs at the bay then how could you know what the restriction was?

    But also there may be other things to add to your appeal, can you get pictures of the bay lines - particularly both ends of the bay - and the lack of signs? Can you post them on a new thread, specifically about the Council ticket - it's the only one you need to worry about. You'd also need clear pics or scans of the front and back of the Council PCN and any replies you receive (minus ID details).

    As a newbie you will need to put a gap between the http and the :// as you can't post complete links. But we'll be able to convert the links OK.

    As for the UKPC ticket, forget that one and ignore any letters they send, maybe they are trying some new threatograms out to see if they can scare more people into paying up.
    Don't fall victim to the scam.
    PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
