just checked things out at n power and they have not applied their new price reduction to their "spreading warmth tariff "customers,(a cheaper rate for the poorest consumers)
They have copied british gas and saved their generosity for the better off ,.... is it just me or are we being taken for mugs....?

It's like the Finance Sector - the regulator (LOL) has allowed the energy companies to act as a cartel and has allowed them to introduce so many tariffs that the entire market is confused and far more complicated than it should be.
Who suffers - the consumer, certainly not the people in charge or the shareholders.
I blame Brown (but then I blame him for everything)!!!0 -
think the reason is that the spreading warmth tariff is a lot lot cheaper than all of them inc online tariffs0

Can you explain that please?
I dont quite get the link between people on standard tariffs and wealth.
What they HAVE done is reduced the rate for people who have never switched before.
I dont understand why people expect the energy companies to apply these price drops to every single tariff, including ones that are already 20-30% cheaper than the standard tariffs anyway.
If you are already on a cheap rate (like an online or social tariff) then its not like your prices have gone up is it? They have remained the same and people on the more expensive tariffs have gone down. You are still getting the cheapest rate available to you so I cant see why everyone is moaning.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -

It's simple really...they put the prices up MASSIVELY using wholesale prices as an excuse...FOR EVERYONE. Wholesale prices dropped ages ago and they are finally dropping a meagre amount in response but not for all the people who suffered increases. Profits of course...massive.
There are several ways to describe this behaviour...cartel isn't a bad choice but I prefer exploitation.
I imagine that some people are "moaning" because had the prices been fairly set and risen and fallen accordingly, they wouldn't be in debt or having to pay via prepayment meters because they could afford a fair price whereas the inflated profitable tarrifs are beyond their means. All this in a record cold winter. I wonder how many pensioners froze to death through fear of using their heating over that period...there were some nasty estimates from Age concern going around a few months ago...very sad when the lives of the most vulnerable come second to increasing profits that are already high isn't it?

Remember that when prices rose massively previously, people on the Essentials tariff at BG did not have this rise until AFTER the winter. They then had a much smaller rise. I'm not sure about other companies workings though.
I am sure the industry will soon be having the Government telling us all how to help and in what way, so people will be treated consistently across all suppliers. People will then not be blaming the Energy companies but the Government instead for the decisions.:think:Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0
