Carpet or laminate

I think this thread has been started somewhere else but the decision is driving me mad.

We have an 11 month old son who keeps banging his head on our current karndean floor in our flat.

We are just about to put down new flooring in a house that we are moving to, it will be carpet upstairs but what about downstairs? laminate or carpet

We will have a log burner so does that mean you have to have laminate/wood floors.

The question is, which is more practical with kids. Will he keep hitting his head?

Thank you in advance

Laminate for me every time. Clean and easy to clean and keep clean.

the bugs that get into carpets, cant be hoovered, multiplying everysingle minute for about 10 years. Yak...........

    Laminate for me every time.

He's 11 months, they all do it at that age, when he gets more balance he'll teach himself not to bang his head. But things like hearths, put a cushion on each corner or something.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

When my little lad was a toddler he was often cracking his head on our solid tiled floor which was scary, and it was also quite cold being solid. We found some nice cork floor tiles and sealed them well and they were brilliant ...although not good if you have dogs or move any heavy furniture about on them as they damage over time if punished that way. Normal family stuff they are great for though and they look really nice and insulate sound and heat well.

I am considering some for my kitchen if I can find some on Ebay at a decent price again.
