Increasing RBS student overdraft - best plan of action?

I am in my first year and have an overdraft facility of £1000. I could really do with some extra cash to see me through this last bit of uni until May when I will be earning good money for 4 months.
RBS say on their website that I £1000 is normally offered in the second term but that £2750 can be applied for at any time. I don't want the full £2750 but another £500 or so would see me through.
What is the best way to approach the bank regarding this?
Does anyone have any success/failure stories?

Go into the uni branch and speak to someone - hard to predict as it will be based on the way you manage your account.:happyhear0
