Change in circumstances after

discharge ....

I was BR in March and awarded a IPA which has been running quite happily ever since.

I was then discharged in August as they decided my case was closed.

My question is, do i need to inform the OR of any changes to my circumstances now that i have been discharged?

Say i were to leave work, or have a child etc.

Some things have already changed on my SOA as i now have a car and am paying the insurance and maintenance on that etc.

Should i have told them about this?

Sorry if its a stupid question!

Thanks

As you have an IPA, then you should notify the OR of any changes in circumstance.

    in that case :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Have had the car since September last year!

Will email them now and tell them and explain that my Grandmother bought it me for cash private sale and i have been paying her back monthly and will confirm the insurance amount per month.

    Hope they dont penalise me!

The again ....... if my IP should have gone down in August then technically i have been paying more off than i should have done?

thank you for replying so quickly!

Hello Puzzledbubbles, Yes I would as Dojoman said. Re: car you never know O.R. might accept it as it is for work...may lower IPA. They will need to know how you got your car though!

  • thank you wasp - i have found the local office.

I dont suppose you lovely folks would look over the below before i send?

    Dear Sirs,

Firstly i apologise for not informing you of a change in circumstances at an earlier date. There is no explanation for this other than a poor understanding of the process. I ignorantly believe that once i had been discharged the IPA would stand irrelivant of a change in circumstances.

On August 28th 2009 my Grandmother purchased a car for me. This was to help with work, visiting her and helping her out and due to a change in personal circumstances as my partner lives in Nxxxxxxx and i was commuting from Nxxxxxxx to Cheltenham by train.

The car is REG NO a Ford fiesta and was purchased privately for £1200.

I have been saving as much as possible to pay her back and to date have paid back £1100 which she can verify if so required.

The car insurance is £26.79 per month.

I have taxed the vehicle for 6 months at £68 which will last until August.

Apologies for not informing you of this change sooner. As previously mentioned i did not think that there would be any change to my IPA unless i were to have more disposable income.

My income has remained the same.

    Its gone :)

    Any further advice?

Sorry, im such a fool, i would blame my dyslexia but i dont think i can.

I honestly thought they only wanted to know if i had more disposable income not less. Its now when im thinking about pro-creation in the future that the idea occured to me of what would happen if i gave up work.

ETA - do you think i should mention my plan to move in with OH in other location 2 counties away and then commute to current place of work - dont want them to say we will take the car away and then not be able to work any more.

I wouldn't worry too much, it's not like you've done anything majorly wrong!!

I haven't told mine about petrol increases etc as I don't think they'd really want me pestering everytime it goes up or down. :)

Other than that it's looks ok!
