Where from here Bank Account?

Hi everyone

been reading and following these forums and slowly descovering how to get back on the credit ladder since July last year.

My story is/was went bankrupt end of March 2004. I didn't hadn't done anything with my credit files untill three weeks ago. In July I applied for and got Vanquis limit £250 after 4 mths went to £500 and has just gone to £1250. I also applied for JDW account started on £125 again in July and by Dec was at £1300 limit and min payments reduced by a third.

After finally writing to my past creditors I have only one default still outstanding and unsettled due to come of at worst case senorio in April. One settled default due to come of on the 23rd March and since this week my bankruptcy has gone already, two wks early.

On Saturday Empire accepted me for a credit account with a £600 limit. I had/have oedered goods and paid cash for items with very three times, Dec,Jan & Feb and they searched me each time and had not given me an account. So was amazed at this acceptance. And the week before 02 refused me a sim only deal.

I only have a step account what are my chances of getting a better bank account? Have never been overdrawn or had charges for the five years I've held this account. Which is a joint account. Hubbys file is the same status as mine.

Where should I be looking now to strengthen our position.

Many thanks for any pointers

Carol

    Hi,

I would try your own bank first. They are more likely to allow you to upgrade to normal current account as they know how you have run your account for the last few years.

I have just been upgraded to their normal current account from the step account after about the same amount of time has you.

    Hope this helps
