Cracks in plaster & walls
Comments
-
It's only if the cracks go through into the masonry that you have to worry, if so they will probably be visible from outside.
Bear in mind you probably had your heating cranked up high the past few weeks , this will have shrunk the plaster more than normal and probably exacerbated any hairline cracks to open up more.
Just fill them as advised above. No free lunch, and no free laptop

I wouldn't bother a builder if the cracks are only in plaster and have been there years. So long as they are stable, and not in the brickwork.
Although I see your title says Plaster and walls?
Correct..even if the cracks have been there for years or a bit wider than harilines you still do not need a builder. Sometime cracks in the plaster develop when the building settles/moves in the early years after construction or due to expansion/contraction of the walls. With time, no further cracks should develop as these will be stabilised. All you have to do is rake out/chisel the original cracks and repair with a repair material..0 -
for those of you who just filled and painted the cracks - what did you fill with?? I have this too above all my radiators0

rake the cracks out first, into a V shape, then use a filler such as pollyfilla.Get some gorm.0
