Candy Washing Machine Help Please

I bought a Candy washer 3 years ago that included a 5 years parts warranty (apparently free), I took out domestic and general policy in december 2009 (when the machine was just under 3 years old) and becasue it was quite noisy booked it in for repair.
The engineer came Xmas eve and said a bolt had sheared off of the drum and therefore it would need a new drum, he ordered it and went away. I had a call to say it was booked back in for 8th January but the day before they called and informed me that the part had not come in and they would let me know when it did.
I have phoned them every 2 weeks or so as the launderette can be expensive, today I was told that the part is obsolete and all they can do is offer me a new machine for £179. Domestic and General are refunding the insurance money as they were not able to repair on it's fisrt repair but Candy cannot see why I am unhappy with that offer, I really don't see how they can expect me to pay for a machine when they cannot fulfill the parts warranty on the one I have bought.
On phoning them a second time they have said that it is not so much obsolete as they are not sure when/if they can get it.
Do you think I should start a small claims claim against Candy Hoover for the cost of the machine originally and possibly lauderette costs for 3 months?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Real men never follow instructions; after all they are just the manufacturer's opinion on how to put something together.

Have you tried looking for the part yourself?
Don't get me wrong, you should not have to do that.
If you can find the part on the internet, point it out to D&G and ask them to get it and fix your m/c.0 -
Thanks for the reply!
D&G quite rightly point out though that they shouldn't have to pay for the part when it is covered by Candy's parts warranty.
Will have a look though.Real men never follow instructions; after all they are just the manufacturer's opinion on how to put something together.0
