Amazon Faulty Item - Return

Firstly wish I never bought this item from Amazon - in true Money Saver Style I decided that saving £5 was better than ordering from Ebay.
Anyway - long story short - the headphones have arrived and have a couple of technical faults - his first advice was to contact the manufacturer and get them to swap them over - I was not happy with this option
I asked the seller to:
send a replacement set and pick up the others
or
send me a courier to collect and once he has received them back dispatch another set
or
send me prepaid packaging to return the item
I am not interested in spending 40 minutes in my local post office and paying for the wrapping paper and postage to return this item. As well as parking costs.
He is only interested in me doing all the running around to get this item back to him.
Can I demand he collects the item?
What are my rights?

AFAIK Amazon will ask you to return for a refund/replacement and then the seller should reimburse your costs. DSR are usually 'over-ruled' when buying on these sites as you cannot force the seller to do anything (easily).
Sending a courier is not cost effective nor practical. Most couriers don't give pick up times, this would leave you moaning about staying home all day.
Prepay labels are also non viable as most RM business accounts only operate from the collection point (their business).
I think you are being a little dramatic re the packaging return. Pack up the item in the original packaging, secured with tape and take it to the post office. Ask the seller to refund your postage costs. Any good seller will do this.0 -
might be worth sending back by recorded or special delievery so you have proof they got it back too.For thousands of people this Christmas, their must-have gift is far more vital than the latest gadget or toy – it’s blood. Please don’t let the festivities and cold weather prevent you from giving them the ultimate gift… give blood.0

I've found Amazon themselves to be quite helpful with problems with marketplace sellers, but I expect it depends on the cs person who deals with your query.0
