IB whilst employed - what happens when I leave work

I am currently receiving IB whilst employed - because sick pay has run out. I am shortly leaving work due to ill health.

I will advise IB of this but does anyone know what will happen?

At the moment I thought I got IB because I can't do my 'normal' job - when I leave will it change to 'any job', or indeed will I be moved to JSA?

I rang a helpline and they more or less said go to your jobcentre when it happens - but I like to plan ahead

If you are too ill to work you need to claim ESA.
    *SIGH*
    :D
  • Hello Div-Ad,

This happened to me last year, you should stay on IB, as there is a 104 week linking period for IB. ESA would only be applicable if you returned to work for over 104 weeks (or when they start changing us all over to ESA later in the year)

The OP is already receiving IB so their claim will just continue as it does now.

OP, do you have any other household income? Do you receive DLA?
    Gone ... or have I?

You are probably being assessed under the PCA at the minute anyway - nothing will change when your job finishes.

    Thanks to those who responded.

    I currently also receive DLA.

My fear is that having formerly done marketing jobs involving travelling and long meetings and lots of responsibility and stress I will be 'encouraged' to try and return to that work (with little chance), and then 'encouraged' to take 'any' job.

Am I capable of working? perhaps. But not at the level and intensity that I have in the past - and even then I'm not sure anyone would give me one.
