New tumble dryer, condenser or vented?

Our 3 year old Zanussi condenser tumble dryer has just broken. The appliance repair man says it will cost £279 to fix so we might as well buy a new one. As it happens, we are about to have a new kitchen fitted and thought that now would be a good time to knock a hole in the wall if we wanted to get a vented dryer. So what would you reccommend? Whatever we buy I do not want it to break down in 3 years!

Vented are supposed to be slightly cheaper to run, we have had a Bosch condenser for over eight years and have no complaints, it works well and has never given any problems, we cannot vent to outside from the only place we could put one so had to go for a condenser.

We had an indesit one..we worked out for roughly just under 5 years so were pleased with that..it was a condensor one. It blew a few weeks ago and we got our new one delivered last week but this is a white knight one (as had great reviews and was on offer!)..seems good and again is a condensor one but obviously only been using a couple of weeks so dont know yet! Not sure if they are any more to run than vented ones but we didn't want one as ours is in the garage.

Good luck with whatever you buy x

Thanks for your replies. We decided to get a Bosch vented dryer in the end.
