Tuition fee support if I have to defer?

Options
Hi there,
Just wondering if anyone can help with the follwoing...
I'm in my 1st year of a 2 year foundation degree. As I studied for 2 years when I was younger (didn't complete the course), I am only entitled to 1 year of fee support. So for this year, I have paid the fees myself and next year I'll be entitled to the tuition fee loan.

Unfortunately, this year the Crohn's disease that I have has flared up and I'm now waiting for a date to have surgery on it. I was signed off work for all of Jan/Feb and am now just working mornings (in a school). I'm really behind with my work and my tuors have mentioned applying to the Uni for deferrment. At the moment, all my work needs to be in by june....that did sound fine in January, but I'm hoping my surgery will be around Easter, if not long after and really can't see me getting all of this years work done.

So, what I'm needing to know is - if I had to start this year again in October, would I be able to get the tuition fee loan for the extra year that I'd now be doing? Out of the 2 years of the course I had to pay one year and get the loan for the other....but if I start again how would it work? Obviously I can get doctor/hospital letters to confirm the situation.

I'm just worrying about the coursework so much, would be awful to have to leave and not be able to finish due to funding:o

Anyway, sorry for the ramble....thanks for any replies:)
I really need to sort out a new signature!

    if its for health reasons then you should be able to have a deferred first opportunity (DFO) for your exams and coursework as long as you have a doctors note, as its what i have had to do for placement as i broke my ankle on the first day of placement and was not allowed to continue due to health and safety.

    But, I will add, you will probably still have to pay the uni fees as I know i still have to even though I didn't even do a day as I broke it walking to uni on the first day of placement, but the fees still had to be paid! :( For fees though, i think you get your course plus one year I think someone said before
    :T:T :beer: :beer::beer::beer: to the lil one :) :beer::beer::beer:

    Provide evidence to whoever you get the rest of your loan from, and you'd be perfectly fine for fee support.
