Can someone help regarding lloyds

I am disgusted with lloyds, i have been with them for 30 years and i have been overdrawn once before, but this time they are charging me £75 for 4 days over being overdrawn and also adding a monthly fee on, i called them up asking them to refund me, my reason that i gave was i put the money in the wrong account, getting mixed up, was away for a week, got home to this letter, saying they will chargr me £75.
Is there anyway i can put a stop to this? I am going to change my bank can anyone advise me on a better bank??
Thank you
Chris

That depends what you mean by better. You would have been charged by nearly all the banks in the same situation. Some banks offer a free, no charges overdraft but you have to pay a monthly fee.
Is the £75 simply for being in an unauthorised overdraft or is it the total of transaction charges?Getting married 02.08.14

I think if you argue that you made a genuine error and the money was in another account to cover anything going out the bank may look to refund on that basis alone. If you have other products with them the "blackmail" route can work, ie that you will take your business elsewhere etc,.etc,
If the previous indiscretion was within the last 12 months it is highly unlikely the bank would refund it even if you had made an error.0 -

Ok thank you, i had a carry on with head office, they would not put me through to my branch, told me that they wont deal with it over the phone, and the head office deals with these things,i told her another member of their staff has just came off the phone telling me to get in touch with my branch, nope she would not do it, so i then said i need to make appt with my branch, ok we can do that for you, i hung up, i called again, got another member and put me through, the manager is not in until this afternoon and will call me back, lets hope so. I have 4 other accounts with them and a loan, i am in middle of starting a new business, i will take elsewhere if they dont refund me.0 -

Remember to be reasonable, ie they may only offer to refund the £75.00 but not the overlimit charge. It is up to you in a sense to negotiate with them on this. It is a genuine error on your part but do not expect 100% back.0 -

I would say you're probably better off speaking to someone at head office to be honest, they Customer Relations team at the head office will have a higher 'ex-gratia' authorisation limit than the staff in the branch and they (sweeping generalisation) tend to look at the bigger picture. Branch staff tend to have their hand's tied when it comes to stuff like this.Getting married 02.08.14

Did she say why it wouldn't let her? Sounds odd to me, were you speaking to the Collections Department or Customer Relations?Getting married 02.08.14

She never said why, think it was collections dept.the_insider wrote: »Did she say why it wouldn't let her? Sounds odd to me, were you speaking to the Collections Department or Customer Relations?0 -
Collections will be able to do very little regarding refunds, they are there to get payments, not to refund charges! But if you have no luck with the branch ask if you can use their phone to call Customer Relations. Remember to stay calm, it's your error that caused the charges and they have no obligation to refund them. Hopefully someone will be able to help you. Good luck!Getting married 02.08.14
