Raised beds

I think there is better chance for a little air to circulate than having the boards permanently covered in compacted soil that is being watered on a regular basis. That is the thinking anyway - whether it works in practice, time will tell but it seems to have worked effectively so far on a few planters I made.0

I think if you stick a proper preservative on the wood, like a creosote replacement, not a water based one, not only would it keep the preservative away from the soil, but the wood would be quite well protected.
I wouldn't want a preservative like that near my beds, so I went without.

Just wondering how 'root' vegs can grow if your raised bed is on concrete? I have a large patio area I could use but always thought I would have to remove or at least break up the concrete..#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

I know it's a bit late now, but I bought a couple of these and I'm very happy with them..
