I qualified at Birmingham and honestly honestly, if you're not at the emergency dept first thing in the morning, you probably won't get seen. By about half nine in the morning, they are so full that they have to close to new people so they can treat the people who are already there. I know that's no help to you but it may save you a wasted journey.

I have the number for the emergency dept at the dental hosp if you would like to pm me but don't hold your breath.

Ta very, it's really close to us so we won't have a problem getting there if need be. I'll PM you now for the number as it'll be useful to have just in case! Still here's hoping I don't need to bother, I find it annoying enough having to call the doctor dead on eight o'clock if I need to see my GP!

Nurofen plus are good too - combination of ibuprofen and codeine. They always work for me! Plus you can take them with paracetamol if you have really bad pain.

Hope he is feeling better soon - I remember when my OH had really bad toothache last year and I've never seen him in so much pain. It's horrible because there isn't much you can do. The only thing that helped him was cold water/air on the tooth. At one stage, he was driving to the trafford centre with one of those electric air pump things that blow up inflatables in his mouth, pointing at his tooth! It's quite funny picturing it now but it was depressing at the time!

Thanks gwhizz, I'm glad there came a time where you could both look back and see the humour in it! An air pump is an ingenious idea although I imagine he got some funny looks :rotfl:

Thanks again for all your help everyone. OH has tried the paramol and it has made an amazing difference. For the first time since last week he is currently feeling no pain at all. Fingers crossed it stays that way until his dentist appointment!

    Glad he's feeling better.

Wales has a major dentist shortage so the service is stretched till it's transparent. Even private dentists are full.
I'm "lucky" as I can see mine twice a year: newer patients are allowed one check up a year only! but it's heaven help you if you need emergency treatment.
