When I lived in Europe, people found it hilariously ridiculous that we didn't describe our properties in square metres. 1 bed, 2 bed etc is totally meaningless really given the variation that can encompass.
I live in Europe, but no one here finds it hilarious. I'm in the UK BTW.

This is common in US (albeit in sq ft) and Oz and New Zealand and as you say gives a far better idea of the overall size of property/plot. Its only basic maths and shouldn't be that hard for the agents to include....

I wouldn't say our descriptions are totally meaningless as the room sizes are quoted on mosts details which is also pretty useful

I guess sellers will be happier if they are getting a lot of viewings too, even if offers aren't made. Estate agents trying to keep them happy.

Hmmm, not sure they would, sellers time has been wasted, estate agent knew i needed a large garden. Wish i'd known about google earth before viewing, i feel quite bad for wasting his time.

Pity as its a lovely house at a reasonable price.

I agree agents should put garden measurements in the details - it's just common sense.

I moved from a new build with a tiny garden. All the houses in the new estate had tiny gardens but if the EA took the photo of the garden from the end of the garden looking at the back of the house the garden seemed much bigger. Also using what my EA called a 'fish eye' lense.
