fire alarm please help

hi i have a very annoying problem that i hope someone can help with
i'm house sitting for my mother and she has an electric smoke alarm which for some reason keeps going off every 10 minutes does anyone have any idea how i can stop it as its highly annoying and as its getting late i dont want to wake the neighbours children.

When you say going off do you mean a noise every 10 mins that then stops. If this is the case it appears the battery may be low.
Either change the battery if you have a spare available or remove the existing battery0 -
If it's not the battery, and is the full alarm, they usually have a reset button. If that doesn't work, put the fire out.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

its the full alarm and theres no fire i think it may have developed a fault0

Try taking the battery out, presumably there is no steam, cigarette smoke, or cooking smoke getting to it?
If it's main, the only way of turning it off would be to kill the circuit at the fuse box/trip switch (it may be wired into the lighting circuit), unless there is an isolation switch or fuse visible..Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
after a fight with the fusebox i managed to take it off the ceiling
now i just have to get it fixed0
