SAAS or LEA?

Options
i came up to glasgow to study a HND in 2006. i finished my course 2 years ago and decided to stay here. i am now looking at going back into studying further after my 2 year break.

i signed onto the electoral roll up in glasgow in 2007 in order to vote that year. it means i have been living here for 4 years, studying for 2. does this mean that i apply for student loan from SAAS or from LEA, or even both?

i know that you have to be resident in scotland for 3 years or more to apply from SAAS and i have been here for 4 years, however will they include the 2 years of studying as being resident?

I'm not sure. The three years is 'ordinarily' resident, excluding for purposes of education. You would probably be best contacting them direct and explaining your situation.

You have to be resident in scotland for 3 years which don't include study periods. You would need to apply directly to your LEA/SLC

Will be Student Finance England - LEA's don't handle top-ups anymore.

just thought i'd let people know what happened incase this happens to anyone else.

contacted SFE and they weren't sure about the situation so they put me through to SAAS who took a look into it then got back to me saying that i should apply to them in april.

i suppose i'll find out if this is right or not next month.
