Hi. can someone tell me how to advise my friend who lives in france how to send something like a cheque to the uk that can be put in a uk bank account and is there any bank fees involved for banking foreign payment.

I think it all depends on who you bank with. It's probably best to phone the UK bank and find out any fees associated with cashing a French cheque.

You can also receive a bank transfer in euros... there will be a fee for conversion but it won't be much. Check with yoru bank as one or two do charge extra.

The way to do it is to get the sender to specify 'shared fees'. You'll need to supply bank details and IBAN / BIC no.
