Washing machine handle

I have Indesit WD10 washing machine, i broke the handle off it and i have ordered a new handle kit which i have now got but i have no instructions as to how to fit the new handle together and i took it apart without taking any photos. I have got the door off but i just cant figure out which way it has to be fitted together, i have tried several ways but they all seem to be wrong. Preferably i want to avoid calling a plumber and fit it myself. Can anyone help?

I have the same washing machine and had the same problem with the handle - and no fitting instructions!

It took a couple of days of trying but I got it figured out in the end with looking at how the old one went on.

Is the link showing your handle kit ?
This looks very much like a Whirlpool handle, not done one for a while, Americans where I work used to break them quite regular as they are not used to waiting for the door lock to de-energize.
I believe there are 2 clamps to hold the spring ends in place.
I can't remember without a refresher myself, but, looking at the picture, if you put the catch between the spring, so the back of the catch (not the catch cut side) is resting on the U part of the spring, then with the parts in the handle and door, slide the pin in.
The spring is the key, once you have clamped the spring down, the catch should be under tension, if not the spring needs turning upside down.
Sorry I cannot explain any clearer as I am a bit rusty on these.
  • I dont know what you mean by a clamp? The rest i sort of understand, its not a whirlpool though its an indesit wd10. Its driving me mad, been trying for 4 hours now!
