Increased shop fees, where will you go?

With eBay announcing an increase in shop fees and making shops less visible many sellers appear to be closing their shop. Will you stick to listing on eBay or go elsewhere-will you try e-bid, set-up you own ecommerce site?

Any views appreciated.

I have a shop and although I was thinking of closing it I have had second thoughts. Its only £6 a month to have the shop door and it makes it easy for customers to browse your items. Its good that you can keep your shop organised with categories and I feel this will be very useful for the customer at christmas time when shopping for stuff. Remember that everything you list is shown in your shop and for that reason alone I think it still can pay even with no shop listings.

I don't think e-bid is any good, there are not many cutomers yet and when I joined up they wanted some sort of fee upfront before I could start to advertise

Oh right. I haven't had a look at e-bid as yet. I only mentioned it because other eBay members were apparently leaving eBay and setting up shop on e-bid.

I still don't know what to do.

  • The items I'm selling at the moment are quite specific & there isn't a lot of them on eBay so I'm hoping I will still get the exposure. If I was to list them as auctions it would cost me a lot more, even with the increased fees, so I'm going to stick at it for 1 more month & hopefully most of my items will have sold then anyway.

I have 2 shops - 1 selling ebooks and 1 selling real books. I am going to get rid of my ebook shop but will keep my real book shop. With non-fiction books there are so few on ebay that mine should come up anyway. I am sad that the fees are going up - but what can you do?!

ebid is pointless while there are no customers and even though my hubbie can build me a website you have to market it vigourously to get any sales from it.

Wait/Pray for Google Auctions. Lots of rumours on the net about this.
    Can I help?
