If you pay off your balance at the end of the month by direct debit, is there a better credit card than egg money who gives 1% cashback.

Not found one yet. I have had this for 5 years, and everytime I go into shops they always try and sell me a store credit or mastercard/visa, and I 'sell' mine back to them.

is there a better card - as it pays me!!

Egg Money used to have an interest rate of about 6.9%, it's now up at 16.9% while Bank of England interest rates have dropped.

Just shows how scummy the banks are.
  • i was just today thinking of the same question

im currently on Barclay card cashback and get a paltry 0.5%cashback (has changed name 4 times in 2 years, so i dont think they'r making too much money of customers)

i too will probably apply for an egg card.
Does anyone know if any cashback sites (quidco etc) do cashback??
(last time i opened a hsbc basic acoount for my wife and they paid £50!!!)

Are you sure it's still 16.9%. Egg has just launched another round of increases. Mine is now 19.9%, although it's academic as I always pay the full balance.

Egg Money used to be good but it isn't now. They totally changed it.

They have not changed the 1% cashback, so it is still a good option for those who always pay the full balance.

Capital One World mastercard, 1% cashback and £10 annual bonus.
There is a £18 annual fee though but the £10 annual bonus cancels soem of that out, so it's £8 for the year which is better than the egg card and also 0.5% on other cards.

Virgin Charity card - 0.8% cashback and no annual fee. Might work for low spenders.
