(I apologise in advance if I'm wrong)
that is, a fan attached to the back of the case, drawing hot air out of the case. And, a fan attached to the front of the case, drawing cool air into the case.
No there is not a fan back and front and I can see how this would be great but like most prebuilt machines this is quite common. If I built it myself I would be looking for these things when selecting a case, but with the pre built systems there is not much you can do at the front with the moulded panel especially if the drive bays are full too.
So I think I am limited to what I can do.0 -
It this the temp whilst idle? Check the manufacturers site to see what the operating temps should be, a lot seem to say max of 55 so your not much over, prob just the hot weather. Does the temp drop with the case open? If so leave the side off until the wether changes
Is there any room for fans? Or any free hard drive or rom bays?

Thanks for the info. My case side is off, but my HD is still reaching 54. Can these HD fans be fitted either side of the HD? How do I know which is the top and bottom of my HD also?
I have noticed it is next to the floppy and it has a spare bay under it so I think I will move it there and give it a bit more breathing space.
Another thing I have noticed (probably going a bit far here as I have a hitech gun that you point at things with a red led to zero in)is there is my CPU with a massive heat sink over it and then the tunnel to the casing fan but there is another heat sink on the motherboard about 1 inch square and this one is up to 60 deg. whereas my CPU is in the high 40's, what ius this other chip that is getting so hot and probably not helping its neighbour components?0 -
That's the chipset heatsink.
easy as pie to add a fan to if you're worried about it's temp, but 60° isn't too bad, not a huge concern anyway."If you really want to hurt your parents and you don't have nerve enough to be homosexual, the least you can do is go into the arts."0 -

That seems to be the hottest part of the whole PC funny enough. So whereas the HD ideally should stay below 50, you are saying this chipset heatsink can go well over 60 with no problem, is that right? Or would you consider cooling this at 60 as well? I am worried I will go over the top and buy a load of fans for nothing.
If I am not going to deep, what does it do, that makes it sooooo hot?0 -
Hi,
I had similar concerns recently. The spec for my Seagate HDD said it was ok to 60 degrees max; my Temp monitor software was seeing 54 at times.
I fitted a PCI exhaust fan (about a fiver - ok for the money). The best thing was a HDD cooler from PCWorld for about six quid; it's a shaped metal plate with two cooling fans fitted - it fits directly to your hard drive using screws supplied - dead easy to do (don't touch the HDD electronics unless you have a wrist strap on). However, my HDD is installed vertically so I had to fit it to the "wrong" side of the HDD (i.e. not blowing onto the electronics as is intended) using ty-wraps. Worked no problem.
Does it work? Yes. The highest temp i've seen since fitting it has been 47 degrees, on the hottest day last week. It'd be even better if it was fitted to the correct side of the HDD. Fan noise? Nope. Best 6 quid I've spent for a long time.

60C sounds a bit high to me for a motherboard, maybe its the motherboard thats too hot, you probably just need to improve the general case temperature.
What is the spec of the system you are running?
To be honest its probably just the hot weather, just looked at my temps and they are usually a bit lower, here's what they are today:
My Motherboard is at 41c
Processor 53c
Graphics Card 48c
Windows Hard Disk 52c
Back Up Hard Disk 43c0 -

How were you able to see all those temperatures, can I ask? I am using speedfan software but dont know what all the temperatures are, it has
temp 1,
temp 2,
HD0 which is my HD I am assuming and then another temp1 which is always cooler at about 43, so dont know what that is telling me, any ideas?0 -
download Everest Home Edition from here.
then once it's installed, click through 'Computer' , then 'Sensor'.
