Boiler problems

Hi Everyone,

Hope one of you guys may be able to help me

I am having boiler troubles, noticed it the other day. The radiators upstairs are warm but not as hot as they should be and the ones downstairs are ice cold. My water seems to be running fine.

When I first moved into the house I had some slight problems with the boiler but it was the other way round, no hot water and heating works fine – magically just started working??

My dad has had a look at it and thinks the pump is working fine and there is no air in the radiators. Do you kind people have any suggestions to what the problem maybe?

If I was to call an engineer out to look at this, what do you think a reasonable cost would be? This is the first home I have had so not really sure on these things and don’t want to get ripped off.

My boiler is a Chaffoteaux & Maury Britony Combi 80 if that helps

If your hot water is still good then your pump is still working ok.

It could be a blockage in the return filter on the boiler, or in the pipe work somewhere. (I'm assuming this has a standard type of return filter).

Depending where you live I would expect a call out charge of around £60-£80 + VAT, hopefully to include up to the first hour.

Ask around friends or neighbours for local recommendations.
