Insurance?
They cover all glass, not just the windscreen.0 -
Try a local independent windscreen company (Like glassman's), if Autoglass are quoting £144 you can probably get it for circa £60 from an independent. Or try a junk yard, some will fit it or you could pay an independent to fit it0

Try polishing it out with some metal polish or toothpaste. I got a really bad scratch out of my glass coffee table with metal polish. Its worth trying before spending.
Ps you need to use some elbow grease.

dont waste your time with toothpaste, metal polish will put micro scratches in it too and could damage it. Get a proper "cerium oxide" glass polish. if you can feel it with your nail then it will be too deep for you to get out on your own entirely but if it was a metal sign then there will be some transferrance of the metal to the screen which may come off to an extent. Companies do polish glass professionally and it may be claimable from your insurance without having to take the car to bits to put a new glass in.0

Would love to know how she hit a sign on the drivers side.... Reversing or something?“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
