Most parks are aimed at over 50s, very few now accept all ages. Park homes are NOT cheap, brand new ones sited can easily top £100K (even £150K) and bear in mind it is a depreciating asset - see how much you will get if you sell after 5 yrs and park owner has taken his cut. Older homes may need external or internal refurbishment.

    Yours for £128,500.

    Thanks a lot everyone.

I think I've come to the conclusion that if I want to buy a place then I'll have buy a place! haha. A mobile home is not right for me- I can barely get out of bed some days or keep my things inside tidy let alone keep the outside of my house spick and span. I can see it wouldn't work!

I think after paying off debts which sadly are now £7K I might put my savings into Premium Bonds for 6 months / a year and hope to win big. Along with all my other money making schemes perhaps I will be debt free by 35! woo go me. :(

I just wonder whether the reason that your husband does not want to apply for benefits is that he likes living with his parents. Understandable, really, if he has a serious illness.

Also, mobile homes can be very hard to heat in winter. Is that compatible with his illness?

I think he is too proud and also doesn't want to get into the benefits trap, which is understandable. I found benefits weren't a trap, unless one claims housing benefit for a nice place, in which case I can see how terrible a trap it would be. If he rented with me though I suspect on my earnings that I would be expected to pay most if not all of the rent unless we actually rented a room each in a shared 2bed flat. I am certain that as we are married the council would regard that as co-habiting though.

Anyway what am I talking about he won't even countenance it.
I'm stuck for the time being.

Keep your chin up luv, just keep saving and you'll reach your goal eventually. I know its not ideal living with the in laws (been there!) but its a good opportunity to live fairly cheaply and squirral away as much as you can.
