[QUOTE I've been offered the chance to do a clinical trial, for which I would be paid £2000. I'm not working, although I am looking for work.[/QUOTE]

If you are not currently working are you claiming benefits of any sort? If so would you not have to declare the £2000 paid as a result of the clinical trial?

Find out how many humans have already received the drug: the more the better, and the less risk you may have an adverse reaction. A "me too" drug with a mode of action similar to drugs already on the market is also far less risky, and go for large multi-national sponsor companies rather than small biotechs. I believe the trial which went so wrong was developed by a small biotech company with a drug with a completely novel mode of action, which was far far more effective in small doses than they anticipated with disasterous consequences! There is no relation whatsoever between perceived risk and payment. Payment is based purely on "inconvenience", time and invasiveness of tests. Good luck!

Well I would say go for it - after you have checked out the benefits side of things.

I'm with Macduff on the fact the security levels are probably a lot tighter now after the high profile case recently.

    Good luck

I'm not on any benefits coz I can't get any for various reasons, so my only income is Amazon, Ebay etc and I could fit that around it.

I don't know too many details about what it would be doing, but it's for an osteroporosis trial. I'd have to go in several times over an 8 week period.
