Should I do it?

I don't normally post here, but you seem a helpful, friendly bunch so I wondered if you'd help me.
I've been offered the chance to do a clinical trial, for which I would be paid £2000. I'm not working, although I am looking for work.
If I do it, I can pay off my credit card (currently £1000) and then have the rest left over. But then I am kinda scared of the risks, especially since that trial went very wrong a few months ago.
So, would you do it?!

My fiance does them when they come up so i would go for it. If your staying in (and for that amount i expect you will be) you will get VERY bored so take lots of books or something with you.Current Mortgage - £156,633:eek:Expecting baby no. one on 27th Oct 20100

It depends what the trial is and what the risks are? I personally wouldn't do it if it were high risk (like if you could go blind or something!!) because I believe health is more important than money but I also guess that they would test something on a human that may possibly cause blindness! Was debt free... then went travelling!0

if you are comfortable with the risks involved i'd go for it. the trial that went wrong a few months ago was 1 trial in a huge industry and just plain bad luck. my opinion of trials is the more they pay the riskier they are (like an investment).
good luck!Lightbulb moment: July 2006

It depends on what the trial is for and who it is with, but if you're not working and have no loss of earnings then its worth a go, especially to clear that card. I have a few friends who have done numerous trials with Covance (they echo the point about being VERY bored) and they've all been fine.
If anything, that incident the other month has probably increased safety levels.0 -
I would as long as the risks weren't life-changing - I'd pay them if they could get me to lose 5 stone overnight!!I believe that I have the strength to make my dreams come true:T September Challenge £5 per day - £0/£150 :T0

would the money you get affect any benefits you are on?0

Bear in mind that a lot of these trials are placebo based, so you have fair chance of taking nothing at all apart from the boredom, I quite fancy them myself but I guess im not healthy enough for a trial at the mo. Look at it as a way of improving your playstation performance
:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I'm sorry but I wouldn't.
I guess the chances of something going wrong are not worth any amount of money; it would be interesting to know whether the guys who were seriously ill in that clinical trial would do it again.2014 Target;
